Portable PCs based on the Alviso chip set are not now due to appear in shops until the first quarter of next year, missing a corporate and winter holiday shopping seasons, the report quoted its source as saying.Alviso is one of the elements of Intel's so-called Sonoma platform, which Intel has said would ship in the second half of 2004, when it first discussed the architecture in Septmber 2003. The platform was set to include a Pentium M processor, an integrated 802.11a/b/g wireless LAN capability, with Alviso providing graphics processing, support of PCI Express, DDR2 memory, and Intel's Azalia audio interface.
